According to her driver, Michael, he believed that Shannan Gilbert had consumed drugs. Following a period of erratic behavior, she abruptly fled. Despite his efforts to locate her, he was unable to find any leads.
She remained unaccounted for until her mother decided to reopen the case. During a police search near Long Island, they discovered human remains along Gilgo Beach. Subsequently, law enforcement uncovered the remains of at least 10 individuals, with a majority of them having worked as prostitutes.
The autopsy report remained unable to tell the reason behind her death and the mystery is still untold.
